The dives at Gordo 2 offered divers an exhilarating and diverse underwater experience, characterised by encounters with various marine species amidst changing water conditions. From the surface to the depths, the dive site revealed a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life, including silkies, hammerhead sharks, devil rays, amberjacks, and bonitas. Despite the transition from clear blue water to green, divers enjoyed excellent visibility and comfortable temperatures throughout the dives, leaving them with cherished memories of their underwater exploration at Gordo 2.

7th March

As divers descended into the water, visibility was limited to 35 feet in the first 40 feet, with a murky blue hue. Below this depth, the water became super green, murky, and cold, creating challenging conditions for exploration. Despite the challenging visibility and temperature drop to 70°F below 40 feet, divers were greeted by a bustling underwater ecosystem. Throughout the dive, silkies were observed, accompanying divers throughout the entirety of the dive. Additionally, encounters with a couple of hammerhead sharks, a large Galapagos and a school of bonitas added excitement and intrigue to the dive. A mild current added a dynamic element to the dive, enhancing the overall experience.

13th March

The dive expedition provided a delightful underwater experience for our 5 divers, featuring diverse marine life encounters amidst changing water conditions and the enchanting sounds of whales. The dive commenced with favorable conditions, boasting blue water visibility until approximately 70/80ft, where it transitioned to green. Water temperature remained a comfortable 70°F throughout the dive, with no discernible thermocline observed. A gentle northeast current added a subtle drift to the dive, enhancing the overall experience. Divers were delighted to encounter curious silkies and a few hammerhead sharks, adding excitement and intrigue to the underwater exploration.

19th March

The first dive at Gordo II provided divers with a diverse and captivating underwater experience, despite challenging visibility conditions and a medium southwest current. Visibility ranged from 35ft from the surface to 50ft, beyond which the water became green, murky, and cold, creating challenging conditions for exploration. Despite these challenges, divers encountered schools of bonitas, adding vibrancy to the underwater landscape. Additionally, sightings of three silkys and two hammerhead sharks added excitement and intrigue to the dive, showcasing the rich biodiversity of the dive site.

20th March

The dive at Gordo 2 presented divers with somewhat challenging conditions characterised by cloudy water and limited visibility. Despite these conditions, the water temperature remained comfortable at 71°F, with no noticeable current. However, marine life sightings were scarce, with only one distant sighting of a hammerhead shark. Additionally, silkies, which are often a common sight, were notably absent during this dive.
