What a day to be out on the water! With 8 divers and 2 guides aboard, we set off across flat, mirror-glass seas towards Gordo Banks. The whole second dive on the outer banks turned magic, with over twenty hammerheads and silky sharks hovering alongside us. Below 22 metres the thermocline dropped visibility to around 10 metres.
Diving Conditions
- Water temperature: 80-85°F / 27-30°C (thermocline below 22m/72ft: 25°C)
- Visibility: 50-60ft / 15-18m (dropping to around 10m/33ft below the thermocline)
- Current: minimal, flat and mirror-glass seas with no wind

Three divers and one guide headed out under medium waves and a light breeze for a proper Gordo Banks outing. Silky sharks stole the show, circling close again and again throughout the dive, while three shy hammerheads swung by for a quick look. Around 20 metres the thermocline nudged temperatures down to 27°C, cooler than the balmy 30°C above.

- Water temperature: 80-85°F / 27-30°C (thermocline at 20m/60ft: dropping to 27°C, versus 30°C above)
- Visibility: 60-70ft / 18-21m
- Current: moderate, medium waves with a bit of wind

Four divers and two guides enjoyed calm seas and barely a ripple of wind on the ride out to Gordo Banks. Silky sharks kept us company throughout both dives, gliding past time and again, while two shy hammerheads made a fleeting appearance on the first descent. At 18 metres the thermocline turned things murky and green, holding steady around 25°C.
