1st August
Our recent diving trip to Gordo Banks was nothing short of spectacular, with two thrilling dives that showcased the area’s marine diversity.
Dive 1: Outer Gordo We began at Outer Gordo, with the water temperature sitting at 76°F above the thermocline (60 feet). Visibility was fantastic, and we were treated to the sight of three curious silky sharks swimming close by. But the highlight was a school of hammerheads passing below us in the deep, accompanied by a few solitary individuals. It was a surreal and breathtaking experience to witness these majestic creatures.
Dive 2: Inner Gordo Our second dive took us to Inner Gordo, where the water temperature was warmer at the surface (78°F) but dropped to 68°F below, with green water in between. Despite the lower visibility, we encountered a solitary silky shark, a sizable amberjack, and an inquisitive octopus. The contrast between the dives made this day at Gordo Banks unforgettable.
Gordo Banks once again proved why it’s a must-visit destination for adventurous divers. Each dive offered something unique, from sharks to fascinating invertebrates, making this trip one for the books!

23rd August
Our latest dive trip to Gordo Banks was an absolute dream! With no wind and perfectly flat seas, it took us just 1.5 hours to arrive after leaving the dock at 7:30 am.
Dive 1: Outer Gordo We descended into clear blue waters and were immediately greeted by a wall of about 20 hammerhead sharks gliding majestically beneath us. The temperature dropped to a brisk 17°C below, with a warm 27°C at the surface (10m). There was no current, making it easy to take in the incredible scene. As if that wasn’t enough, we also had a stunning encounter with a blue marlin, passing gracefully through the water.
Dive 2: Outer Gordo Again Conditions remained the same for the second dive, but this time, the wildlife turned up the excitement! The school of hammerheads was even larger, and the marlin was back!
Another unforgettable adventure at Gordo Banks—nature always has a way of keeping us on our toes!
