September 3

One of the warmest starts to September Gordo Banks trips for years! We had a group of 4 divers that were looking forward to some clear, warm dives regardless of the sharky activity!

Diving conditions

  • Visibility 100ft+/30m+
  • Water temperature 88f/32c!!!
  • down to 100ft/30m and then 28c/82 f at 115ft/34m

Wildlife encounters

  • Lots of Creole fish and green jacks

September 14

Continuing with the warmer-than-average conditions, 3 divers boarded the Apex boat for a 2 tank dive out at Gordo Banks. Arriving at the bank at 7.55am ready to dive! The visibility was slightly lower than usual

  • 55ft+/15m+ visibility    
  • water temperature 88f/32c
  • down to 100ft/30m and then 83f/28 c

  • Huge school of bonitos
  • Olive Ridley turtle
  • Wahoo!

September 26

The diver arrived at the boat where they met Captain Mario and dive guide Antonio. After a boat briefing the group headed out north east to the banks! There was a slight southerly swell from a passing hurricane further south.

  • 55ft+/15m+ visibility
  • water temperature 89f/33c
  • down to 100ft/30m and then 84f/29 c

  • Huge school of cow nose rays on the bank
  • yellow fin
  • dog snappers spawning
  • bonitos
